Commiting to safety
The safety culture of your organisation is the product of individual
and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns
of behaviour that determine the commitment to, and the proficiency
of your health and safety management system.
Health and safety regulations can be a major headache for any business and the general provisions
of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 impose a duty on all employers to ensure, as far as is
reasonably practicable, the safety of their employees at work by maintaining safe plant, safe systems
of work, and safe premises, and also by ensuring adequate instruction, training and Supervision.
The Act also requires every employer to prepare a written statement of general policy with respect to
the health and safety at work of his employees and the organisation and arrangements in force for
carrying out that policy, and to bring the statement to the notice of all his employees HASAWA sec2[3]

Crucial Investment

"Safety is, without doubt,
the most crucial investment
we can make. And the
question is not what it costs
us, but what it saves."

(Robert E. McKee,
Chairman and
Managing Director,
Conoco (UK) Ltd.)
